Fortune Archive

UI/UX Design - Speculative Design - App Design - 2024

Fortune Archive is an app concept developed as part of a one-day sprint project, inspired by my previous work, What Do You Believe?.

The app allows users to access an interactive map of their local area to view “lucky” spots, leave and read notes from others in specific locations, and track the increasing luck in particular areas. Users can also create profiles, share their findings, avoid “unlucky” spots, and contribute to the collective experience of their environment.

The goal was to create the design and concept for a playful, community-driven tool for exploring and interacting with local spaces.

Fortune Archive Overall Goals:
Project Goals:
• Create interactive, location-based experience
• Enable user-generated content sharing
• Design for playful community engagement
• Keep development scope achievable

Technical Considerations:
• Simple map-based interface for usability
• Quick prototyping for rapid development
• Minimal viable feature set for sprint
• Focus on local data integration

Overall Achievement:
I met all project goals within the one-day constraint by focusing on an achievable concept and core features. This approach delivered a functional, community-driven app design that encouraged playful exploration of local spaces.

Fortune Archive - App Concept Development and Wireframes:
Initially, I focused on developing the concept for the app, aiming to explore how people connect with one another and reflect on beliefs outside of a religious context.

I carefully considered the app’s functionality and how it could foster meaningful connections. After brainstorming key stylistic elements, I finalized the app’s direction: an intuitive, map-based social platform that allows users to store, share, and engage with others’ stories and beliefs.

I identified the key pages needed for high-fidelity exploration and brainstormed potential names for the app. From there, I began creating wireframes, prioritizing the map features and the user’s ability to contribute information to the platform.

Fortune Archive - Visual Design and Final Hi-Fi:
Next, I developed the visual design for the app, aiming to evoke the feeling of gazing at the stars, mildly reminiscent of constellations. I focused on creating a design that conveyed a spacey, pulsing energy, striking a balance between being slightly unfamiliar and intuitive.

The goal was to craft an experience that felt both intriguing and easy to navigate, encouraging users to explore the platform seamlessly.
