Soundwave - High-Fidelity Protoype and User Testing
High-Fidelity:
To develop our hi-fi designs, we focused on using our visual design guide to generate clear hierarchies, incorporate interesting graphics, and continue to lean into social media elements. I continued to build out the ‘Search’ page, including more music universe ideas and individual song/album information pages.User Testing:
Testing this prototype on users was really valuable and provided some useful insights as my team and I began to think about final designs. Users made comments such as:- “Link to Spotify is a nice feature! I can see personal stats on how the user interacted with the song.”
- “Seems to be a mind-map-type-thing showing related musicians, cool... I’m not sure what happens when you click on the artist names.”
- “I like that it looks like a social media profile. I wonder which of these elements are clickable.”
- “I’d be interested in seeing recommended songs that I haven’t listened to.”
- “Where do the drafts go when you save them? Do people choose what they put on their feed? What is the friends tab on the search page for?”
As I was in charge of the search features of the app, I took specific notes on features I could change on my page.
Overall, I decided to:
- increase the contrast between elements on the page
- draw more attention to the music universe feature through color
- adjusted some elements (such as the search bar) to match the other screens of the app
- helped my teammates fine-tune elements of their designs
- Remove the filtering options that were unclear to users
