CHAMPIONS DESIGN: MAREMOTO WEBSITE Developed in collaboration with Champions Design, the Maremoto website translates a bold brand identity into a powerful digital experience. Although Maremoto is a nonprofit, the goal was never to create a site that felt like one. Instead, the site needed to carry force: confidence, urgency, and momentum, true to the name Maremoto, meaning tidal wave.

Maremoto exists to build Latino civic, media, and cultural power, organizing collective action, shifting culture, driving narratives, and growing the next generation of leaders. The website was designed to embody that mission not through softness or institutional language, but through presence: direct, dynamic, and unapologetically bold.

Working alongside Champions Design, who led the brand identity, I helped bring Maremoto’s ethos into a digital space that felt alive and charged. From the start, we aligned on a clear intention: this site needed fight. It needed to feel cool, contemporary, and powerful - less informational nonprofit, more movement in motion.

I focused on translating the brand into a web experience that balanced structure with energy, using strong visual hierarchy, expressive layouts, and pacing that supported momentum rather than passivity. Imagery, typography, and motion were treated as tools for building pressure and presence, reinforcing the idea of collective power rather than individual persuasion. Crucially, the site had to have an English and a Spanish version. I designed it for easy translation.

The process involved close collaboration with the Maremoto team through ongoing client conversations, ensuring the site reflected their voice and ambitions while pushing beyond expected nonprofit aesthetics. I also worked closely with Sage Jenson, who developed a custom shader for the site, integrating technical experimentation into the visual language and enhancing the sense of movement and force across the experience.

Together with the Champions team, we ensured the final site felt cohesive across static and dynamic elements: performant, expressive, and aligned with Maremoto’s identity as a catalyst for change.
